The summer saunter series gets kicked off one day after the first official day of summer! Join in on a fun and interactive walk along the Black Rock trail to explore nature the way the great naturalist and ecologist Henry David Thoreau might have done more than 150 years ago around Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. Thoreau has been a remarkable source of inspiration and guidance for many young naturalists, and has provided valuable contributions to science through is theory of succession and in many other ways. Take a stroll through the high elevation forests of Grandfather Mountain to ponder what Thoreau may have found interesting in such an environment.
Cost per person: free with admission
Program starts at 11:00am and lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours
Meet at the Black Rock Trailhead in the parking area.
